Projector Calculator

Estimate screen width, height, and diagonal from throw distance and throw ratio for home theater planning.

Projected Image Size

How to Use

  1. 1

    Enter the measured lens-to-screen throw distance in feet.

  2. 2

    Enter your projector throw ratio from the manufacturer.

  3. 3

    Pick aspect ratio, then calculate to estimate width, height, and diagonal.

Formula

Image Width = Throw Distance / Throw Ratio
Image Height = Image Width x (AspectH / AspectW)
Diagonal = sqrt(width^2 + height^2)

Disclaimer: Real-world image size can vary with zoom setting, lens shift, and projector model tolerances.

Tip

For a cinematic setup, verify brightness (lumens) and ambient light, not just image size.
