FAQ

A kilocalorie (kcal) equals 1,000 calories (cal). The "Calories" listed on food labels are actually kilocalories. So when a food label says 200 Calories, it means 200 kcal or 200,000 cal.
BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. It is commonly used for rating heating and cooling systems (furnaces, air conditioners).

Quick Tip

Food energy is measured in kilocalories (kcal). An average adult needs about 2,000 kcal per day, which equals about 8,368 kJ.
